Maryland FREE's mission is to enlighten the public, the media, and state opinion leaders of the policy innovations
successfully used in other states, and how they can be applied to the social and economic problems facing Maryland. The non-profit and non-partisan foundation continues to commission studies, which investigate
policy areas considered too sensitive for political organizations and state agencies.
Using its diverse resources, Maryland FREE educates state, business, and community leaders about the factors that nurture and
hinder the state's prosperity. Through quality research, Maryland FREE is becoming the premier choice for information on innovative and privately managed alternatives to existing state and local government programs.
The Foundation's objectives are to:
Identify the problems confronting Maryland and their importance
Provide new solutions to old problems
Reveal how existing remedies are failing or are too inefficient to be continued
Educate the public as to what the experiences with government efforts have been and what have been the results of experiments from
other parts of the country
Identify the incentives and disincentives which molds Maryland's competitiveness with other states
Maryland FREE will investigate several categories of policy which affect Maryland:
Maryland's economy, tax policy, and job creation
. Agency regulation, and tort/civil law
. Efficiency and failings of government programs and agencies
. Legislative, electoral, and governing processes
. Welfare policy and social issues
